Anjielo's new HaLow Wi-Fi bridge & extender achieves 3 km stable wireless connection

Wi-Fi Halow is a standard launched by the Wi-Fi Alliance specifically for the IoT market. While traditional Wi-Fi continues to gain market share with its fast transmission speed and large-capacity transmission, the Wi-Fi Halow operating frequency band that focuses on meeting the needs of IoT applications is set at a low frequency range of about 900MHz. Compared with traditional Wi-Fi, it can achieve farther signal propagation and stronger signal penetration/wall penetration. It is suitable for sensor applications that require greater transmission distance and allow low-speed transmission, such as smart home hardware, and is also suitable for applications that have high requirements for transmission rate, transmission distance, and transmission data volume, such as network cameras.

Compared with other technologies working in the Sub-1GHz band (such as NB-IoT, LoRa, SigFox), the minimum channel width of Wi-Fi Halow is still 1MHz (the channel width is generally designed to be 1/2/4/8MHz), which means that it supports application scenarios with larger data transmission volumes, especially audio and video scenarios. Anjielo recently released a number of new Wi-Fi Halow products, strengthening support for low-power devices and adding power amplifiers, which can achieve 3 km stable wireless connection, greatly improving coverage and transmission distance. The device has faster network transmission speeds and can provide ultra-long-distance stable connections for various applications.

HaLow operates on the 900 MHz spectrum and uses a low-power design to support smart buildings, IoT devices, wearable devices, and critical infrastructure, and can connect thousands of devices in the community. HaLow has a maximum bandwidth of only 32 Mbps (very narrow compared to mainstream Wi-Fi standards using 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands), but it makes up for this shortcoming with its super ability to penetrate walls and other solid objects. HaLow has the advantage of being able to connect cameras and systems over long distances without expensive cables.

AnjieloIn this test, we had a participant start a video call away from the Wi-Fi hotspot. Although bandwidth obviously decreases with distance, the call remained stable at 3,000 meters, at which distance the video became blurry and speeds dropped to 1 Mbps, but audio quality was not affected. The test location further added to the interest of the test: the beach is adjacent to a busy highway and residential areas. This environment represents where HaLow might be used. The test results show that the standard can effectively handle real-world interference levels.

There is a growing interest in Wi-Fi Halow for security monitoring products around the world. Wi-Fi Halow itself is suitable for a wider range of applications, but compared with many mature technologies such as Wi-Fi and LPWAN, Wi-Fi Halow's most competitive features are still low power consumption, long distance, and good wall penetration. Overseas residential spaces are generally large, and users always expect to receive video surveillance signals in various parts of the room. Wi-Fi Halow can meet such needs. The products involved include outdoor cameras, indoor baby care cameras, smart doorbells, etc. In addition to security monitoring, Wi-Fi Halow is also being introduced into outdoor operating robots such as lawn mowers, and retail supermarkets.
