Wi-Fi HaLow The First Choice for Smart Home Connectivity - Making Your Smart Home Smarter

      The development of common wireless surveillance cameras has increased the demand for commercial and consumer camera manufacturers. However, traditional Wi-Fi technology cannot adequately meet the needs of long transmission distance, good performance in penetrating obstacles, and long battery runtime without increasing the cost and complexity of the network. Tuya WIFI HaLow IP Camera solves this problem.

wifiHaLow also uses narrower channels than traditional wifi. At the same transmission power level, the transmission distance can be up to 10 times longer than wifi. It can continue to transmit video when traditional wifi cameras lose connection. wifiHaLow is also the first 802.11 technology to include a new sleep function that reduces energy consumption. The advantage of these combined features is that, depending on the usage of the camera, the battery life of a wireless camera with wifiHaLow technology is 10 to 200 times longer than that with traditional wifi. wifiHaLow maintains the same benefits of traditional wifi, namely automatically operating at a faster, more energy-efficient data rate when a device is in close proximity to an access point. Wi-Fi HaLow is ideal for meeting the growing demands of wireless security cameras.

Wi-Fi HaLow, a new feature that enables long-range, low-power Wi-Fi transmissions on the sub-1GHz spectrum, promises a range of more than 1km through walls.
The current WiFi is not very satisfactory in terms of wall penetration performance. It can cover some slightly larger houses under the 2.4GHz frequency band, but the signal coverage of the same house under the 5GHz frequency band may not be sufficient.
For some IoT devices, although the signal range of WiFi can still be covered today, with the development of IoT devices in the future, the required signal coverage needs to be larger. Wi-Fi HaLow (pronounced HEY-low) protocol , can fill this gap by providing an ultra-low-power wireless solution that can connect more IoT devices at a longer distance and lower power consumption than traditional Wi-Fi . The protocol was approved by the IEEE 802.11ah task group in 2016 and is called Wi-Fi HaLow by the Wi-Fi Alliance.
Wi-Fi HaLow is a next-generation WiFi standard specifically for IoT devices. Compared with other IoT connection technologies (such as Bluetooth or zigbee), it has at least four obvious technical advantages:
1. Support ultra-long transmission distance up to 1 km;
2. It has excellent wall penetration performance, which is better than other existing WiFi or low-power wireless technology signals;
3. The power consumption is extremely low, and only one button battery can achieve several months or even years of battery life;
4. Because it is a variant of WiFi, there is no need for a gateway. In theory, every IoT device can be directly connected to the router.
